Spend a weekend on the Ile de Ré: the advantages

Going to Ré la Blanche for 2 days may not seem like much, but this brief escape is conducive to relaxation and rest: every moment taken to relax is savored even more. Spending a weekend on the Ile de Ré is a great way to unwind from the stresses of everyday life. The island is a haven of peace and tranquility, where life is good thanks to its microclimate, with temperatures milder than on the mainland. It’s the ideal place to get out and about, on foot or by bike. A change of scenery is guaranteed as you move from the beach to unspoilt wild landscapes, even away from the coast.

Camping accommodation for your weekend on the Ile de Ré

If you’re heading to Île de Ré for the weekend, you’ll only be staying there for 2 to 3 nights. The easiest option is therefore either to come in a RV if you have one, or to rent a standard mobile home. La Tour des Prises Campsite offers comfortable sites where you can park your RV or pitch your tent.

If you opt for a mobile home, accommodation in the standard or family range offers all the comfort you need for a short stay. Measuring between 22 and 25 m², they can accommodate between 2 and 5 people, ideal for a weekend getaway for two. The Coco Sweet, an atypical converted tent, is also an excellent solution: its 16 m² are enough to sleep and cook for a weekend. You can rent accommodation for a 2- or 3-day weekend from €160 for mobile homes and from €130 for the Coco Sweet. For 1 or 2 people, a plot can be rented from €19 per night.

What to do on the Ile de Ré for a weekend?

The Île de Ré offers a wealth of activities and sights to see over a period of 2 or 3 days. On the first day, you can start by visiting the markets first thing in the morning and exploring one or two of the island’s villages, such as La Flotte-en-Ré, one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France.” This is the perfect opportunity to have lunch at a restaurant, savoring seafood by the harbor while taking in the view. The Vauban fortifications in Saint-Martin-de-Ré are also a must-see on Île de Ré. Since the island is famous for its bike paths, take the opportunity to go for a lovely bike ride. La Tour des Prises campsite even offers bike rentals.

The next day, you may decide to explore the north of the island. Start by taking a trip to Loix, where you can visit the salt marsh eco-museum, then continue your tour of the island by visiting the Lilleau des Niges nature reserve, home to a multitude of bird species. Then discover the Baleines lighthouse in Saint-Clément-des-Baleines and enjoy the magnificent panorama from the top. You can round off your weekend in style with an ice cream on the beach.
