What to do on the Ile de Ré for a weekend?

TheIle de Ré is full of activities and visits to be done in 2 or 3 days. On the first day, you can take advantage of the morning markets and visit one or two of the island’s villages, such as La Flotte-en-Ré, one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a seafood lunch in a restaurant on the harbor, while taking in the view. The Vauban fortifications at Saint-Martin-de-Ré are also a must-see on the Ile de Ré. The island is renowned for its cycle paths, so take advantage of the opportunity to go for a nice bike ride. Camping La Tour des Prises also offers a bicycle rental service.

The next day, you may decide to explore the north of the island. Start by taking a trip to Loix, where you can visit the salt marsh eco-museum, then continue your tour of the island by visiting the Lilleau des Niges nature reserve, home to a multitude of bird species. Then discover the Baleines lighthouse in Saint-Clément-des-Baleines and enjoy the magnificent panorama from the top. You can round off your weekend in style with an ice cream on the beach.
