Hiking on the Ile de Ré on themed itineraries

Walk between the elements in Loix-en-Ré (5 km, 1 hour):
Starting from Loix market square, let your steps lead you along pathsways between land, sea and salt marshes. You’ll pass through surreal landscapes, full of contrasts, whose very special light has inspired countless painters.

Cultural walk on the Fortifications Trail (13 km, 2 hours) :
From Rivedoux-Plage, set off on foot to discover the Vauban fortifications of L’île de Ré, which blend surprisingly well with the surrounding nature. Take care on this route, as the footpath is also open to cyclists.

Ornithological walk between Saint-Clément-des-Baleines and Les Portes-en-Ré (19 km, 5 hours):
For this sublime, rather sporty hike, make sure you’re perfectly shod. Leave from the Saint Clément church parking lot. You’ll cross the salt marshes and nature reserve where many migratory birds take refuge between November and May. You’ll then walk through the Trousse-Chemise forest, which inspired Charles Aznavour’s song of the same name. Your hike ends on the beach, rewarded by a magnificent view of the Baleines lighthouse, before completing the loop back to your starting point.
