Whale watching during your stay at camping île de Ré

For an unusual vacation, there’s a good chance you’ll spot whales during your stay at La Tour des Prises campsite on the Ile de Ré. Indeed, from May to September in 2018 there have been numerous sightings of marine mammals off the coast of Charente-Maritime. A team from Ré Nature Environnement got an up-close look at a young whale for three hours. It was a young cetacean measuring around 4 meters and weighing less than a ton. This minke whale, also known as the minke whale or Balaenoptera acutorostrata, evolved in shallow water near the Breton coast, practically under the bridge on the Ile de Ré.
